The Government has launched a campaign to support businesses in the European Union (EU) continue to trade with the UK following the Brexit transitional period.
A brand-new Government campaign will support EU businesses in trading with the UK after the Brexit transitional period, it has been revealed.
Entitled “Keep Business Moving”, the campaign will run alongside the UK’s domestic campaign which aims to prepare UK businesses for life outside the single market.
According to the Department for International Trade (DIT), the new communications initiative intends to arm EU-based businesses with the information and tools they need to ensure a seamless transition on 31 December 2020.
This could include advice on import and export procedures, customs and excise duties, VAT, declarations and more.
Commenting on the announcement, Greg Hands, Minister for Trade Policy, said: “Our preparations for the end of the transition period are well underway and this campaign will support the UK’s valuable trading partners in the EU to keep business moving at the end of the year.
“We are supporting businesses by launching this campaign to help them prepare over the coming weeks and months for changes in January, ensuring that businesses in both the UK and the EU can continue to operate smoothly in a new trading environment.”
The initiative follows the launch of the UK’s domestic campaign, known as “The UK’s new start: let’s get going”.
The campaign, which directs businesses to the Government’s UK transition page, aims to make sure businesses are ready to trade with the EU, for example, by securing an EU EORI number or registering with the relevant Customs Authority.
