Alain Stechler

Alain acts for a diverse portfolio of privately owned businesses, providing proactive financial planning, business mentoring and financial therapy services.  Alain specialises in company and employee tax incentive schemes, company valuations, company acquisitions and disposals and business advisory work. Alain is also bilingual in French.

Alain is a keen cyclist and has participated in various fund raising cycle rides. Alain is also involved in charity work and is the Honorary Treasurer of the UK Committee of Shaare Zedek Hospital.

He is a Spurs fan and attend matches regularly at the “Lane” as well as Wembley! Alain lives in North London and has two beautiful daughters.

Alex joined Grunberg & Co in October 2011 having completed his training and early career with one of the UK’s top 50 accountancy practices. Since then he has worked within the firm’s Audit and Accounts team, where he primarily works with owner managed businesses, including those in the insurance and property investment sectors. Having been promoted to Manager in April 2014, Alex became a Partner in October 2017.

Alex is also involved in the training and recruitment of staff at the firm and plays an active role in helping the firms students through their studies to eventual qualification.

Whilst not in the office, Alex can usually be found at Craven Cottage following his beloved Fulham FC.

Gedalia joined the firm as an audit senior in 2010 and was made Partner in April 2014.

Gedalia heads up the Firm’s audit department and is responsible for all the audit work in the Firm. He specialises in complex audit and accounts issues, and advises businesses in a wide range of sectors from FCA regulated entities, to travel and property development companies as well as charities.

As head of Audits, Gedalia has responsibility for the design and implementation of the firm’s audit systems and provides training on accounts and audits. He has also lectured at the ICAEW on audit related topics.

Gedalia is a proud father of two boys who keep him both busy and entertained with their antics.

Tax Partner of the firm, assists clients with tax planning and tax problems! Peter joined Grunberg & Co in 2005 and was made a Partner in 2011. Peter started life as an accountant but soon realised in 1999 that the world of taxation is where his heart belonged and decided to pursue his career as a Chartered Tax Adviser.

Peter works with all of the Partners looking at various tax planning ideas for our clients to minimise and mitigate tax wherever possible! Peter assists our client’s with their day to day tax compliance and administration in the ever more complex world of taxation as well as implementing taxation strategies and planning solutions.

Peter enjoys working with the vast variety of clients that we have and the Firm’s ethos and family feel.   Peter is also a dab hand when it comes to tax enquiries and dealing with the Revenue.

Robert qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995. He has been involved with Grunberg & Co since 1999, becoming a partner in 2001 and Managing Partner in 2007.

His specialities are TV production companies and business/individuals involved in the TV and film industries together with design, computer and general SME clients. He is heavily involved with IT, accounting software and systems and regularly deals with business development for clients.

Robert is an avid Spurs supporter and season ticket holder, regularly plays football and enjoys watching most sports. He is into gadgets and new IT.

He is also the Honorary Treasurer for the Miracles charity, which creates little “miracles” for those in need together with giving Humanitarian Aid and the creation of a Centre for Prosthesis and Care in one of the worst land-mined countries in the world, Bosnia.

He lives in Hertfordshire with his wife and son.

Sanjay manages a varied portfolio of SME and OMB’s that range across several different sectors which include professional services, manufacturing, recruitment, property development and retail to name a few.  He oversees our ‘Business Cloud department’ that handle the accounting processing using a range of Cloud based software’s and advising clients on making improvements to their existing systems and record keeping.

In addition, he deals with client’s business needs and aims to provide the value-added service to which they are accustomed to receiving efficiently and effectively from Grunberg & Co.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, namely his wife and two children and socialising with friends and family.

Following a start to his career in personal tax, Nimesh moved on to transaction tax where he advised on a broad range of tax issues and developed a strong technical background.

During her time with the firm, she has been responsible for leading many of our large and multinational group audits, mentoring junior members of staff and has overseen the preparation of unincorporated accounts.

As an Audit & Accounts Manager, Charlotte is now involved in ensuring the smooth running of the department and is a main point of contact for many clients.

I am experienced in auditing and accounting for entities ranging from small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational billion-pound companies, including AIM-listed organisations.

I regularly deal with both well-established and start-up businesses, offering advice and expertise to clients in a proactive manner.

In 2018, I made it to the final of the IRIS Accountancy Awards having been nominated for the ‘Trainee of the year’ Award.

I completed a three-year undergraduate degree, a postgraduate diploma, the ITC and APC board exams. As a result, I’m eligible to register as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa. Having started my career as a school leaver, I achieved my chartered accountancy qualification at 25, even after missing a year of education, an achievement of which I am incredibly proud.

I have experience dealing with large group audits.  A recent accomplishment was overcoming a significant delay to a large group of audits.  The delay caused other issues which we had to problem solve. However, as a team, we managed to complete all the audits with some strategic planning and a great team effort. These are the sorts of projects I love.

I enjoy sports and the outdoors in general.

I love working with clients and building relationships. I like to ensure I am approachable and have a positive outlook which helps to develop very open and easy-going relationships. I take a genuine interest in each client I work with.

I’m a specialist in complex tax issues for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and estates.

I’m also highly experienced with tax cases with niche aspects that are rarely encountered, and I provide support with a range of complex tax issues and ad-hoc queries to ensure that clients receive the best advice and remain compliant.

I am excellent at researching tax opportunities and considering all the relevant factors to build planning packages that minimise tax and fit the lifestyles of our clients.

When it comes to Inheritance Tax, I offer solutions to ensure wealth passes smoothly to future generations.

In my spare time, I organise zombie walks for charity and even proposed to my wife at one of them!

Joining the firm in 2020, I am now not practising as a solicitor but I bring the wealth of experience I have from this background to the role of Company Secretarial Manager at Grunberg & Co, focusing on corporate compliance and governance.

I am the manager of a small team that assists Grunberg& Co’s clients with all manner of company secretarial work, such as annual compliance filings and ad-hoc transactions.

I am currently studying towards the ICSA (The Chartered Governance Institute) qualification.

My approach to work is simple – I focus on the details, whilst also keeping in mind the bigger picture and the needs of the firm’s clients.

I recently qualified and registered as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and have seven years’ experience in the audit and accounts production field.

Before joining Grunberg & Co, I had been an audit supervisor at a South African firm, where I managed audit engagements as well as the audit teams to ensure work was completed within the deadline.

One of my achievement highlights was at a previous firm – where I identified a significant error in a client’s year-end revenue balance by performing additional work based on the systems in place and then helping them correct it.

I view problems as puzzles. It helps to see how they fit together and that way you know what to do to reach a solution. Sometimes it’s arranging things in a different way, sometimes it’s because you’re missing a piece but there’s always a way to fix a problem.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and certification from the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  I specialise in the retail and property sectors and have extensive audit experience with international clients across Hong Kong, China, Singapore, and Malaysia.

One of the highlights of my career was consulting and assisting companies in obtaining listing on the US Nasdaq market. This achievement, alongside assisting several SPACs to list on Nasdaq, stands as one of my most significant career milestones to date.

I am multilingual speaking Cantonese, Mandarin, and English which broadens my global reach and ability to work with diverse clients and on complex projects.

I am a Senior Cloud Accounting Technician at Grunberg & Co, a role I started in June 2023. My primary objective is to support clients using cloud-based accounting software by processing bookkeeping information and reviewing and preparing client VAT returns.

My role also includes preparing and checking accounting data for errors and advising clients on ways to use software efficiently. This advice ensures the integrity of financial data and health of the client’s business.

In my role at Grunberg & Co, I am responsible for supporting my client’s business needs which range from day-to-day issues to annual statutory compliance requirements.

Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and registering with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is one of my proudest achievements to date and an example of my determination to progress in my career thus far.

I always strive to be the best version of myself and to improve my knowledge of technological accounting processes.

I have recently been working to improve my understanding of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) which act as a set of accounting rules, standards, and procedures.

Outside of work, I enjoy going fishing. As the saying goes: “You can’t buy happiness, but you can go fishing, and that’s pretty much the same thing!”

I develop good relationships with my clients and communicate with them regularly. I always conduct an introductory call and provide them with the audit’s expectations. I thereafter regularly update the client on the audit’s progress.
